Categories:Company NewsDate:2025-04-29

On the afternoon of April 28, the China-Europe Railway Express Transport Coordination Committee held a hybrid session on the transition of carrier identity for the China-Europe Railway Express in Beijing. Hosted by China Railway Container Transport Corporation (CRCTC), the event brought together all member units of the committee, with CRCTC branch and subsidiary companies participated as observers. Shanghai Tieyang Multi-modal Transportation Company (TMT), as a committee member, joined the session online.

The meeting comprehensively interpreted the policy adjustments regarding the carrier transition for the China-Europe Railway Express.  It was announced that starting in May 2025, CRCTC will assume the role of CREs designated carrier, overseeing market operations for the China-Europe Railway Express and related routes, including the China-Laos, China-Vietnam, and China-Mongolia lines. The session also outlined specific changes under the new framework, covering logistics service segments, pricing mechanisms, capacity coordination, transportation organization, safety responsibilities, and transitional operational models.

This transition aligns with the China State Railway Group‌’s efforts to implement President Xi Jinping‌’s directives to advance the CRE toward higher quality, better efficiency, and greater safety and to accelerate its high-quality development.”  This reform aims to consolidate the market into a unified entity, enhancing domestic coordination capabilities and strengthening Chinas influence in overseas operations, thereby better serving the Belt and Road Initiative. The shift is poised to profoundly impact the operational models, competitive dynamics, and future development trajectories for the railway express network.

Shanghai Tieyang Multi-modal Transportation Company pledged to proactively adapt to the new mechanisms, ensure seamless business transitions, and support policy implementation. By continuously improving product and service quality, the company aims to bolster its core competitiveness and contribute to the sustainable growth of the China-Europe Railway Express.
